How to publish an app on the App Store and Google Play
Developer accounts, requirements, store listings and review: every step to get your app on the stores.
Building the app is only half the job: to reach users you have to publish it on the App Store and Google Play, following precise technical requirements and guidelines.
1. Create developer accounts
- Apple Developer Program: yearly fee; companies need a D-U-N-S number.
- Google Play Console: one-off fee and identity verification.
We always recommend putting the accounts in your company's name: the app stays yours.
2. Prepare the store listing
- App name and subtitle
- Description with the right keywords (ASO, App Store Optimization)
- Screenshots for each screen size and, ideally, a video
- Icon, category and content rating
3. Privacy and requirements
Both stores require an online privacy policy and a declaration of the data the app collects. If users can create an account, they must also be able to delete it.
4. Build and submit
With Expo EAS we generate signed iOS and Android builds and submit them directly, also handling TestFlight and Google Play testing tracks.
5. Review
Apple and Google review the app before publishing. It can take from a few hours to a few days. Common rejection reasons are incomplete content, privacy issues, crashes or non-compliant payments.
6. After launch
Monitor reviews, crashes and analytics, and plan regular updates: the stores reward apps that are looked after.
With our iOS and Android app development service, publishing is included: we handle every step.
